victoria coren marriage

It’s become an iconic TV moment : Scott and Charlene getting married in bad credit loans Neighbours in 1987. The music, the dress, the misty special-effects of a great (if cheesy) scene that captured our hearts. And then, of course, the romance for Kylie and Jason continued off screen and the magic doubled.
Office romance, a much debated affair, is a common way for any of us to find our life partners (or not-for-life partners) and so why shouldn’t TV personalities also find love ‘on the job’?

Yesterday’s news of and Victoria Coren’s engagement had been a well-kept secret in the world of TV romance.  Best known for Peep Show, Mock the Week Have I Got News For You and The 10 o’Clock Show David met the daughter of the late humorist and journalist, Alan Coren when they appeared together in The Bubble quiz show on BBC2 in 2010.

Victoria,  journalist, poker player and sister of the food critic, Giles, has hosted the BBC4 quiz show Only Connect since 2008.  Their romantic union, shrouded in secrecy, brings unsecured loans together two of today’s brightest TV talents. But with a combined 730,000 followers on Twitter, the love birds chose a less obvious but more traditional way of announcing their news, by placing an ad in the births, marriages and deaths column in The Times.
Let’s just hope that this TV relationship remains on air longer than previous box-set romances.  The rumoured affair between presenters Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley (The One Show, 2007), DJ Chris Evans and teenage pop star Billie Piper (2001-2005), jungle lovers Katie Price and Peter Andre (I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here 2004- 2007) and countless Big Brother cupids are hardly episode dramas worth rewinding.
